Super Brain Yoga is a type of yoga that is said to improve the brain. And, while it seems to be new, it’s an ancient technique that has been given a new, modern name.
Previously known as Thoppukaranam, super brain yoga comprises of a series of steps meant to energize the brain and activate brain cells. The process works by pushing energy from the lower chakras, upward, and through the upper crown chakras.
Benefits of Super Brain Yoga
A previous study showed super brain yoga to have a positive impact on working memory and attentional control. With consistent practice, it’s thought to encourage improvements in thinking, memory, performance, and brain functionality. Here’s how super brain yoga makes your brain better:
Enhanced focus
Just 15 minutes of super brain yoga causes a spike in alpha brainwave activity. This helps to activate calm alertness, where you can access more memory and recall.
Helps to synchronize the two sides of the brain
Over time, we often get stuck in a pattern of using one side of the brain more than the other. Super brain yoga helps to improve brain function by synchronizing both sides of the brain.
Lower stress
Because it activates your parasympathetic nervous system that is responsible for calming the body, super brain yoga helps to reduce stress over time.
How Super Brain Yoga Affects the Brain?
Super brain yoga helps you to access the alpha brainwave state which has great cognitive benefits. When the alpha waves are stimulated, this promotes a state of alertness and relaxation.
And because the left and right sides of the brain come into sync, this increases brainpower and improves our ability to problem solve and recall information effectively. This is also when we become most creative, with the alpha state being where most music, art, and poetry are made.
How to Practice Super Brain Yoga?
Super brain yoga is easy to learn and suitable for all ages. A combination of breathing and acupressure is used to strengthen and restore the brain. Follow these steps to get started with super brain yoga:
